Easy Apple Tarts Recipe #goodcookkitchenexprt
Nothing fall has arrived like a warm baked treat with in-season apples fresh from the tree! My parents have three amazing apple trees on their farm. They grow Fireside apples (or “Connell Red / Fireside” so we’ve been told, although there’s some debate exactly what they are). According to Minnesota Harvest, Fireside was introduced by the University of Minnesota in 1943. It is big, sweet, firm, long-keeping, chunky to chew, complex-ly flavorful, and brilliantly named. Connell Red is a naturally-occurring mutation of Fireside. The two are essentially the same.
Sadly, you won’t find these apples in your local store. But, refer to the chart below for the best apples for baking, so you can enjoy this delish Easy Apple Tarts recipe too!
