Frightfully easy to make, and delicious! These Easy Broken-Glass Halloween Cupcakes are the perfect party treat, or share with friends, classmates or family!

Ingredients

Scale
  • Red Velvet Cake Mix + Ingredients It Asks For to Prepare the Mix (i.e. water, vegetable oil, eggs, etc.)
  • White Frosting
  • 1 Cup of Light Corn Syrup
  • 2 Cups of Water
  • 3 1/2 Cups of sugar
  • Red Food Coloring
  • Foil Paper
  • 1 Cookie Sheet
  • Non-Stick Cooking/Baking Spray
  • Optional: Cupcake Liners, A Candy Thermometer

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees or whatever the instructions say on your cake mix.
  2. Grab your cookie sheet and line it with foil. After you do that, spray the foil with the non-stick cooking/baking spray.
  3. In a large sauce pan, combine the sugar, water, and corn syrup. Bring the mixture to a boil and then lower the heat a little and cook the candy until it reaches 300 degrees. (If you don’t have a candy thermometer, use the cold water method to test the temperature. I linked to it in the post above).
  4. Once the candy reaches 300 degrees, pour it on the cookie sheet you lined with foil Make sure to spread it evenly and then set it aside to harden.
  5. While you wait for your candy to harden, start on your cupcakes. Prepare them according to what the instructions it came with says.
  6. When your cupcakes are done and cooled, check to see if your candy has hardened. Take a hammer or whatever you can find (I used the handle of a spatula) and break your glass candy into “shards.”You are now ready to decorate your cupcakes.
  7. Get your white frosting and frost your cupcakes, add a few drops of your red food coloring, and then shove your glass candy into the top of them (you can also add a little food coloring to the glass).
  8. And that’s it! Enjoy your broken glass cupcakes!
