Homemade Corndog Recipe
If you’re looking to make homemade corndogs, you’re going to love this recipe! It is quick, cheap, and anyone can do it. You can ever have your kids help with dipping the hot dogs into the batter. The best part of this is, you probably have most of the ingredients lying around your house already.
What you’ll need (check below for measurements):
- yellow cornmeal
- all-purpose flour
- sugar
- baking powder
- salt
- an egg
- buttermilk (or whole milk)
- vegetable oil (or canola)
- honey
- hot dogs
- skewers or chop sticks
Combine all of the dry ingredients together (cornmeal, flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder).
Once you combine all of the dry ingredients together, set it aside and combine all of the wet ingredients (buttermilk, egg, vegetable oil, and honey).
Combine the wet and dry ingredients together, and then pour the batter into a tall glass. Get the hot dogs out of the package and dry them off with a paper towel.
Make sure to dry them off really well so they’re not wet. The batter won’t stick too great if they’re not dried off. Once you do that, insert the skewers into the hot dogs.
At this point, you want to start heating up your oil. Make sure to heat it to 350 degrees. When it’s ready, start dipping the hot dogs into the batter.
And put them in the oil for around 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Make sure to watch them because they’re going to fry fast.
When they’re done, place them on paper towels to drain the grease (try not to eat them right out of the oil).
Enjoy!!
